Over the years, Jacob worked in various academic and research positions at the Deakin University, University of Melbourne, La Trobe University and RMIT. He was also deputy director of Amdahl Australian Intelligent Tools Programme (La Trobe) and a senior scientist at Telecom Research Laboratories. Jacob’s teaching covered many different areas of Information Technology, and more recently he was a unit chair in Business Analysis, Project Management, Business Intelligence and Predictive Analytics. He is often engaged in business consulting and software development, and worked as an expert witness to assess Information Systems development practices. Jacob regularly works with national and international collaborators and is a regular member of Information Systems conference programme committees. Jacob published articles in books, journals and professional magazines, as well as at conferences and workshops. Jacob is a recipient of research grants and industry funding, which more recently (2004-2010) included several Deakin Strategic Teaching and Learning grants, he was co-leader of a 2008-2010 ALTC Competitive grant for e-simulations and 2013-2014 OLT Innovation and Development grant for his work in visual analytics, 2011 Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching and Learning and 2011 national ALTC Award for Programs that Enhance Learning.
